It’s been a while since I posted, I know. I’m sorry! The thing is, it’s been non-stop sunny with relatively little wind here. That’s like scoring the jackpot for these parts. And, while the weather is this good it’s really impossible to stay indoors. Well, not impossible really but you do feel super guilty if you do!
So, I’ve been outside – all day, every day during this period. It’s lead to many pictures, a jumble of thoughts and things to tell you, many projects started, continued and even finished, and a lot of back-ache and overall body stiffness and creaks.
It’s raining today, so I’m indoors. I’ll try to get the thoughts and ideas in order for you because, believe me, there were antics. But first, I wasn’t kidding about the back and body aches. I need to get comfy on this chair.
Maybe we’ll start with photos. Seedling photos.
I needed to sow more seeds. I also had my second wave of seedlings to pot on from the seed trays to individual pots. This was not a task I was looking forward to, and actually I’d been putting it off. Space after the seedlings were potted on was an issue as I don’t have a greenhouse or polycrub yet, and the weather is still quite unpredictable. So one of the tasks I had to do before attending to the seedlings was to clean out the garden shed, because that’s where the potted on seedlings would have to go temporarily.
Let me tell you, this was not a task I was looking forward to. The garden shed was divided into two functions – my side with the plant stuff and his side with the garden machinery, tools, car washing things and well, the general i-don’t-know-where-to-put-this-so-it’s-going-here area. Luckily enough, the Hubs had finished things in the workshop early so he was walking around the back of the house doing random things and I felt the time was right to ask for a little (ahem, read full length of garden shed!) shelf to be put up.
He just looked at me.
I explained about my idea and the space it would create, the easier maneuvering of the strimmer and the lawn mower would be a result, as would be the easy location of all the car wash gear (he’s quite methodical about keeping the car and his work van clean and in good condition).
He continued to look at me.
I don’t think he really believed that spending time on an old garden shed was the most necessary thing in the world at that point, but to me it was! The seedlings (and my sanity) depended on it. Late winter/ early spring is always a time fraught with seedling scheduling for me. (It’s worth it though, it’s so much cheaper than buying individual plants and if you have quite a large space like me you’ve got to choose your spending wisely.)
I told him I thought there was an old piece of timber left over from some of his construction. He said okay, on the condition that I brought him the piece of timber while he got his tools.
Yay!
About 15 minutes later and the job was done. I now had a shelf on the tool side of the shed so I started organizing. By the next day it was done and a lot of rubbish had been bagged up. All of a sudden there was a little more space.
The seed potatoes were shifted on my garden work surface as they continued to chit. And, before I started potting on all the current seedlings I took some photos.
Hope you enjoy them!
